קרעעד III star Jonathan Majors was arrested Saturday in New York City on charges of strangulation, assault and harassment of a 30-year-old woman, according to several reports on Sunday, leading the Army to reportedly pause an ad campaign with Majors—but an attorney for the actor says Majors is “completely innocent” and was instead “the victim” of the altercation.

Authorities were called to the incident in the Chelsea neighborhood, described as a “domestic dispute,” around 11 a.m. on Saturday, where a woman told them she had been assaulted, the New York Police Department told multiple news outlets.

Police say officers “placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident.”

The woman was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for “minor injuries to her head and neck,” the NYPD reportedly said.

אין אַ דערקלערונג צו פאָרבעס, lawyer Priya Chaudhry said she plans to present evidence including “video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations,” which she believes will result in the charges filed against Majors being dropped.

Chaudhry said “all the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault [the woman] whatsoever.”

The U.S. Army on Sunday suspended an advertising campaign narrated by Majors in response to his arrest, a spokesperson told the Army Times and the Associated Press, saying “prudence dictates that we pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete.”

פאָרבעס has reached out to the NYPD for comment.
