More than a dozen new releases debut on this week’s Billboard 200 chart, and among the popular albums and EPs in that group is the latest offering from (G)I-dle. As their newest set enters the tally, the South Korean band achieves a new milestone and finds themselves in the company of some of the most successful female acts from their home country.
(G)I-dle’s EP איך פילן arrives at No. 41 on this week’s Billboard 200, narrowly missing out on becoming their first top 40 placement. That said, the album still propels them to a new peak position on the chart. Their only previous appearance on the Billboard 200 was with איך האב ליב in 2022, which reached a much lower position—No. 71.
איך פילן starts off at No. 41 on the Billboard 200 thanks to just under 18,500 equivalent units shifted in its first full frame of availability.
The five members of (G)I-dle are undoubtedly celebrating their latest achievement. By placing on the Billboard 200, they have not only improved their own standing and reached a new high, they have also elevated their position on an all-time ranking of the most successful K-pop girl groups in American history.
With two titles on the Billboard 200 now included in their discography, (G)I-dle is tied for the third-most appearances on the chart among girl groups from South Korea.
Currently, (G)I-dle finds themselves on the same level as Aespa and Le Sserafim, two recently popular and successful K-pop girl groups that have made a significant impact in America right from the start. While (G)I-dle has been steadily building their career for years, it is only recently that they have been able to leave a mark on the Billboard 200.
Ahead of (G)I-dle, Aespa and Le Sserafim are two K-pop girl groups that have helped pave the way for everyone’s success. Blackpink and Itzy, with four different projects each, have achieved even greater success on the Billboard 200. Notably, Blackpink stands as the only K-pop girl group to have reached No. 1 on the chart, placing them among a select few South Korean acts to accomplish this feat.
Before this week, (G)I-dle was on par with several other K-pop girl groups, with only one appearance on the Billboard 200. However, with their latest release, they have surpassed all of them—for now. Names such as 2NE1, Girls’ Generation, Girls’ Generation-TTS (credited as a separate group), Loona, and Nmixx have all achieved a single entry on the Billboard 200, though some may add to that sum soon.
